Good afternoon, I am new to the forum after purchasing my 2015 BMW 520d touring last week. Loving the car so far however I noticed that it has a gutted DPF. I contacted BMW to see if the EGR cooler recall had been done and they advised it’s never been in for the recall. I have booked the car in next month for this recall. My concern, my car has a gutted DPF (only noticed yesterday) and I wondered if getting the EGR cooler recall done would cause me running issues ? Last thing I want to do is create issues. Has anyone else put their BMW for this recall with a gutted DPF and did you have any issues afterwards ?

OK will look to adopt that advice. Oil filter does get changed out annually but will look to the air filter also. Good idea on hoovering the pollen filters though.

Thanks for your input. I checked the the DC Voltage with a meter on either side of the fuses (152 and 182) on top ,so I know the fuses are good I also checked the relay 'on the bench' and it's functioning too. Maybe the car needs a reset with a BMW Diagnostics kit as there is still an icon on the dashboard which will not clear?

2024 x6 six cylinder vs 8 cylinder. Is 8 Cylinder worth it
Greydog replied to Rob Lee's topic in BMW X6 Series Forum
Morning Robert Welcome to the Forum The GO5 X6 as far as I am aware are all 6 cylinder Diesel or Petrol plus the Petrol V8 as far as I am aware the engine choices are The xDrive40i M Sport has a 3.0-litre, in-line six turbo-petrol engine with a maximum outputs of 280kW and 540Nm. The xDriveM60i has a 4.4-litre, eight-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with maximum outputs of 390kW and 750Nm. The xDrive30d has a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with maximum outputs of 219kW and 650Nm. The M Competition model has 4.4-litre, V8 turbo-petrol engine with maximum outputs of 460kW and 540Nm. If it is a traffic light racer you want then the V8 is hard to beat but obviously operating costs are higher than a 6 cylinder petrol or diesel Fuel,Tyres, Insurance and servicing I have 2 X5's a 4.6is V8 around 18mpg average but glorious noise and acceleration (High days and Holidays car now) and a daily driver 3.0d around 28 mpg around town high 30's on a run Hope this helps Dave - Yesterday

Afternoon Frankolinno Welcome to the Forum I would start at the Boot/Trunk look above the number plate for a Key hole, you should have a key blade as part of the Fob Find the Key hole open the Boot/Trunk and you have access to the Battery. If charging the battery remove it from the car to charge it. There should also be an emergency key hole on the underside of the drivers door Good Luck Dave

Morning Mike Welcome to the Forum Sadly we do live in times where extra protection is needed The good old Stop Lock is an excellent visual deterent. Whether the investment in a ghost immobiliser as well is worth the money no one can say untill it is needed. Personally the Stop Lock would be my choice (I use one when we are away from home) Dave

Morning Frank Welcome to the Forum Are you thinking of after market or BMW ? Also raises the question why ? If BMW then as long as it has the same functions and air bag connections I would think you could find one from other models. Try a search on www.realoem.com to see if there are any cross refference parts Dave

Morning John You do know your German car is built in South Carolina 😅 If nothing is loose in the Boot then I would still be looking for Loose Heat Shields or worn Suspension parts (Drop Link or Anti Roll Bar Bushes) Dave -

Interesting I’ve had nothing since they told me to come and collect the car !

Hi Ian Welcome to the Forum I think I would be writing to the Service Director with a copy to BMW Customer Services UK The EGR Cooler should have had nothing to do with the Speedo or your Bluetooth they have a Duty of Care while your car is in their workshop. As the Digital Speedo and Bluetooth were operating when it went in they should be when it came out The only thing I can think is they disconected some thing that didn't need disconnecting which is a worry as it would indicate a level of misunderstanding or even incompetence Dave

Hi all, Could someone tell me if there is a way to turn off the delay for the dashboard lights when I turn off the ignition. I read somewhere that if you turn the stop start on then off again after you have turned the ignition off that could do it, sadly it didn’t. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jackie

New here - just a couple of questions if I may
Greydog replied to VinceH's topic in BMW 5 Series Forum
Hi Derek Check history very carefully some of the earlier 2.0d suffered timing chain issues and I believe BMW recommended timing chain replacement but cant recall the mileage (old Blokes brain fade) but if it's 100k then it could be costly as I believe it's engine out. Google may help more The 5 series are great cars by the way Dave -
Hi Dave Have you tried Black Circles they have always been helpfull, them and my Local Tyre Specialist Dave

Hi Dave, It appears that my Ista+ was out of date and the idrive(ecu) software in the vehicle is running the 2018 version, therefore, reading the vehicle with the up to date remote ista from the dealership shows there is nothing wrong with the car. It's already booked for a software update with the 2025 version Thanks!

Morning Annamaria Welcome to the Forum As with any purchase of a Second hand car it falls on you to make all the checks you can if your not able/capable then ask someone who is to check for you. There may be a charge from people like the AA/RAC or similar but at least you will feel confident in your decision. Just asking on a Forum could get conflicting advice as no one but you has actually seen the car? Well I assume you have have had hands on it Good Hunting Dave
