  2. From what I have been able to learn, seems like it was only vehicles manufactured between 17th Sept 2024 and 21st Oct 2024 that may have been affected. Our car entered the manufacturing process on 20th Sept, so I am worried that it will be one with the B-Pillar made from incorrect materials.
  3. Hi just wanted to introduce myself I have just retired and after years of company cars have bought my own car as a daily driver. I have ended up with a 320D coupe M Sport 2013 I am motor trade back ground although in the Truck business. I have a classic car Triumph TR6 and a Motorbike Street Triple 675 taking a bit of getting used to being responsible for my own car 😂
  4. P.s… the original key might work if you change the battery. The door locks are not linked to the immobiliser or chip. The keys can be synced to the car doors once the battery is replaced.
  5. Hi I have a couple of problems with my 2009 x5 xdrive. 3.0d first of all. Should I be able to select neutral with the ignition on with engine but not started. Secondly, since I’ve been unable to select different gears or neutral I cannot get my car to start. I’ve changed fuel pump relay as not getting any fuel to fuel rail. Are used to be able to select a neutral with the engine off with this now stop the car starting
  6. hi Dave, I had a look there and if its there I couldn't find it, the only other place it seems to suggest is to do with the BC button on the indicator lever but I have tried that as well and no joy, it may be that there is some sort of procedure which has to be followed in the right order but until now I am at a loss. cheers Paneuro.

  8. Morning Bubba Are you telling us your indicated mileage has risen from 63000 to 180000 ? If that is the case then it needs some checking, BMW store mileage in 2 places the Instrument Cluster and the Footwell Control Module it could be that one or the other has been changed but not registered to the car correctly and now mileage has reverted to it's original or it could be the car was clocked at some time in it's life Dave
  9. I have a e60 520d m sport my mileage was at 180,000 when I got in my car other day my mileage was showing 63,000 why is this???

  11. Good morning all, So, having had my car for a little over 6 months I decided to give the transmission an overdue service. Parts obtained from Autodoc for £205 for ZF service kit, a fill plug & mechatronic sleeve (Just in case) Job wasn't that bad to do. I even found the source of an intermittant rattle from un undershield. Once done I cleared the adaptions & drove up the road, instantly the shifts were noticeably smoother, not that they were too bad before, just slightly less refined. ZF recommend it to be done at 60K I believe, my car has covered 79K miles. I might do just a fluid flush at 100K miles, we'll see...

  12. It certainly made a bang, it was no more than 30mph and was over so quickly hard to know exactly what happened. I think the front nearside went up and straight over the kerb then I corrected steering and and the back may have hit the kerb obliquely? It was also on a busy road so I had to get car clear as carefully as I could so couldn't stop. I'm so gutted about it and just hope there are no other problems but it is being fixed by BMW dealer so they should be doing it right.

  15. Are these wheels worth much ?
  16. Thanks for the advice Dave.
  17. Morning Kashem Welcome to the Forum Matts post is a few years old and he never did follow up to let us know if he fixed it or sold the car The iDrive is built into the CiC Infotainment system in the front of the car the iDrive controller is also at the front. What is in the boot is the active sound controller and may be the Amp. A diagnostic scan using a BMW capable scanner should help identify where the issue is. First thing is get rid of the water and try to find where its coming in and fix that. Then check the fuses front and rear also check the loom carefully beneath the fuse board in the rear BMW use a cable jointing system that compress's copper wires together they are then covered with a clear plastic sleeve (see the attached picture) in the picture the thin green wires and Orange green trace are for the Can Bus system the black colour is corrosion 3 of 5 wires just fell out when I moved them I cut off the splice and remade the joint with solder and a shrinkwrap cover. I have found this now on 5 different BMW's that friends and family have brought to me with Can bus problems everything from radio not working nav stopped access system issues lights not working If you have had water in there I guess the loom has been submerged so worth a check in my X5 they were bundled in the main loom right beneath the fuse board and rear light (which leaked) I remade all the 5 splices you see in the picture Hope it helps Dave
  18. Good morning Dave True, the one I got ad 79k, full BMW service history and I had to replace almost all gaskets, o rings, hoses, abs sensors, seals, and I still don’t have a fault free car. Although I have just serviced the car, it looks that I should replace the oil sensor just to be on the safe side, I am using the car for family holidays so the last thing I want is to be stranded. Thank you for the support. Very much appreciated!! Take care Dimitri
  19. Morning Martin Welcome to the Forum Try Disconnecting the Battery for at least 30 mins (a Dealer trick to clear faults) Neg first Dave

  24. Hi Andy Welcome to the Forum The transmission has a service schedule normally between 50 and 100k kilometers depending on duty Dave
  25. Hi John Welcome to the Forum What diagnotics are you using ? Check the main connectors to the cluster for a short to earth as you have 2 blown clusters worth sending one to someone like ECU Testing to see if it can be repaired ? The cluster recieves information from several modules so a full Diagnostic check may well show the culprit up Dave
  26. Hello all, I have just found this forum and want to tell my story and seek advice. My husband past away last year and left me his BMW X2 2018 plate. He had it on HP with BMW finance. I took over this agreement and have 8 more months until I decide to hand it back. I have enjoyed driving the car for just over a year. Until two weeks ago when the car went into Limp mode and I was towed home by the AA. They thought it was a gear box issue. The milage is 38,000 miles, so not a huge amount. My neighbour who understands cars did a bit of research and we took it to an automatic gear box specialist. Thinking this would be cheaper than taking it to the main BMW dealer. Last week he said he was awaiting parts to come from Japan to repair the gearbox. Monday I got a quote for a new gearbox as the parts are slow coming in from Japan! The quote was 11K!!!!!! This is a ridiculous amount of money. I can buy a reasonable second hand car for that. It seems I can drive short distances for a while, but I have lost of confidence in the car. So I'm unsure what to do, I simply can't afford to pay the monthly payments and fork out to repair a car I no longer want. The contract agreement clearly states that BMW own the car until I have fully paid off the HP agreement and the balloon payment. Is this break down of a major part their issue and not mine? Ive not been in touch with them. I'm currently drafting a letter to BBC Watchdog, Rip off Britain for Money box. Any advice
  27. My x5 drivers side did this and it was the spring had lost its tension. I just bought another from eBay and fitted it in 5 minutes. job done!
  28. Hi guys, turned out it was the 'Idler Pulley' in the belt. Local autoshop figured it out. $100 repair. Thanks again for your help, appreciated! Norm.
