Hey guys bit of a problem it's my first post on here, i had 15 inch non run flat tyres on the car then changed them to 17 inch with non run flat tyres now the low pressure light is on, it cam on straight away when I drove away from the tyre place, any advice? I tried to reset the button under the handbrake but that didn't work maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Just checked I have runflats on back non runflats on the front they are 17 inch cooper wheels, would this make the light come on?

no same 2054517 all round, im thinking because the runflats have a hard sidewall and the standard tyres dont, the car thinks the softer sidewall is punctured? might put the pressure up a bit on the non runflats see if that works.. if not il just put non runflats all round

Not good to mix run-flat and normal tyres on the SAME car let alone the same axle. If you google this you will find it is NOT advised.

Main thing to be careful of, is if you had an accident, your insurance would not pay out, the tyre reset button for my Cooper SD is on the computer.

Yes, Alan is right, Francis, the "Run flat" v "Non run flat" issue is a bit of a minefield regarding insurance. Before you do anything else or spend any more money, I'd check it out with your Insurance company. I don't think you have too much of an issue with a 2002 car, but with later cars that had run flats fitted from new, I believe they must be replaced like for like.

The system works by scanning the overall diameter of the wheels, that's how it doesn't spot tiny differences such as would occur when you add a few PSI to the tyres. Follow the instructions to re-set the TPM and then drive off and all should be ok.
