All opinions welcome regarding tuning the current software on my 335d coupe (2006 reg).

The car was bought from new so I'm very reticient about going the Maxx Power route. I'm more concerned about (1) improving fuel efficiency, (2) general engine smoothness, (3) wanting to avoid increasing common rail head pressures and, not least, (4) having the ability to 'de-fit' or demount the 'kit' leaving no or little trace of it ever being fitted. A tall order ? Probably.

There seem to be plenty of people who have software that ramps up the pressures of the common rail system and that's precisely the kind of Maxx Power 'live today and cry at the repairers tomorrow' attitude I'd like to avoid :D .

The best bet may be a plug-in 'down-stream' box like Steinbauer's whose box avoids tampering with boost pressures in the CR system.....but any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

Re-map FTW

A re-map (on a rolling road) would be tailored to the car and your requirements... Avoid "off the shelf" boxes ;)

Ok.....are you obliquely referring to DMS.....or are there others in mind ?? Rolling roads are fine but it's how these tuners are changing the software parameters and the effects they have on the various components. As I said I'm not keen on someone ramping up the pressures in the common rail system to achieve these results....Any thoughts ?

Never been a fan of the boxes or pop-in replacement chips... Too generic.

Best to get a tailored re-map because this takes other aspects into consideration such as engine age... Also you can choose other options "on the fly" while you're there !

As for upping fuel pressures... Peeps find it easier replacing the injectors for slightly higher volume ones but would really only benefit a "Race" type remap ;)
