E39 Sound System

Hi,

I want to upgrade the sound system in my M5 but I want to keep the head unit and disc changer, and the interface with the multi purpose wheel...In other words I want to upgrade speakers and amp(s) etc, and add an ipod jack.

Any one have any advice?

Not sure, you'll probably need a different HU for iPod.

Ah, yeah, probably true. In that case I will forget the ipod connection, so I can keep the original HU. The car is in Oxfordshire, so any pointers towards decent sound specialists in the area would be great.

What head unit if any will fit in place of this and will I need to change all the wiring If I got an after market one?????

I just want a nice subtle head unit that capable enough to run sound system and sat nav etc

This guy Gavin is a great dealer and very customer focused on what they want, he has done a few upgrades on E39 using factory radio and also changing for Alpine etc.

It maybe worth a chat
