Trickle Charge Battery

Hi

I have just bought an 2006 (E46) BMW 320d SE convertible which I am lucky enough not to have to use in winter so it will be put in the garage until the sun shines next year.

When I put it in the garage I will put the battery on to an intelligent charger that only kicks in when the battery loses charge and tops it up.

As the battery is in the boot can I attach the charger to the terminals under the bonnet to keep the battery charged up or will it have to be fitted directly to the battery in the boot?

If you wish to maintain the cars' ECU settings then a power source needs to be connected. I wouldn't rely on the trickle-charge method... Personally, I would start the car maybe 2 or more times a month so the engine gets a stir too ! ;)

I agree, but would add to run the engine long enough for it too warm up completley, better still, if the weather is fine and dry, wrap up warm and get out there with the roof down, and have some fun :)
