Very Poor Radio Reception E46

Hi, Ever since I have had my car the radio reception has been bad I always put it down to the headunit but I have just upgraded the unit and the signal is still awful just cuts out all the time any ideas where the ariel is on these? I am guessing it is in the rear window somewhere but I cant see where>

I'm not to sure to be honest mate. But I believe the connection for the aerial in my E36 is in the drivers side of the boot. If I'm correct it's behind the carpet covering the wing. The radio never worked on mine from when I first brought the car and put it down to the head unit. When I stripped out the car I found the aerial cable unplugged there. Sure someone else on here can either confirm or call me a liar haha.

I have a 2004 E46 and the radio reception is awful, and seems to be a common problem, due to the aerial being part of the rear window. If I have my heated rear window on, the interference is unbelievable. The unit is located in the nearside rear door C pillar. If you pull off the cover (with the interior light) then you will see the unit. Check that the aerial is in tight. I checked mine and cleaned all of the contacts, and it made it better for a while.

I was thinking of upgrading my standard Business CD unit, but realised it would be a waste of money as I would still be using the crap aerial!

The problem lies with the aerial amplifier, a common issue on all BMWs :(

      X3 2.0 automatic

      hi , I had very similar problem a while back, and after a lot of testing with vista, it turned out to be a front R/H wheel , speed/wheel sensor. when it all was happing lots of codes were coming up gearbox, diff front and back, transever box,plus many more, didn't look good, but there was one code that repeatedly came up at the top of the list, at this point it was becoming undriveable ,it just didn't seem that a wheel sensor could cause all these codes. So I went got two wheel speed sensor, replaced driver side front, the problem never came back, the sensor controls so many systems ,cleared all codes, happy days, I could have pulled the car apart for nothing, and got nowhere, except an empty wallet. hope this helps you or someone.

      105C thermostat replacement

      As I understand the wiring diagrams and operation Item 9 on the thermostat housing is the sensor which sends its signal to the ECU for interpretation with information from the map sensor. Information from item 12 (1st drawing ) is also used to provide average temp across the cooling system. As far as I am aware the Thermostst is independent of the sensors and operated by expanding wax material internally

      Errr not clear here Donald Plastic "L's" with short rubber hoses ??? Distilled water/Ionised water should only be used in an old style lead acid battery. The Rad and engine coolining system should be filled with the correct coolant mix to prevent cavitation and the danger of freezing in low temps. Coolant should be part of the cars regular maintenance and changed every 3 years or so. At that time all hoses and connectors should be inspected and changed where necessary to keep everything in tip top condition. Changing parts can cause as many problems as you may think your solving

      BMW 318i boot locked can’t get into

      Update: I checked my battery and it charged in 5 minutes, so I don't have to find another alternator. All seems to be OK except for the plastic "L"s with a short rubber hose that bypass the HV/AC solenoid. Those get clogged after @ 150,000-190,000 miles (if distilled water wasn't used) and cause air pockets that try to burst radiators. I have a few more brass "L"s, so now I can throw the plastic ones away. I have to be careful I don't fog the windows though, without heat or cool.
