Hey there as a new 2003 x5 4.6is owner one of the first things I would like to do is change the gearbox fluid /filter as I intend to tow a caravan. My car has 85k on clock but has a "sealed for life gearbox" , Can I change these at all and if so how do I go about it ??

I have noticed a drain plug on the gearbox sump.

cheers

Yes they are serviceable contrary to their description !

You may need to access the topmost area of the box to refill it though (not certain)...

I have known people to drain, remove then turn over to refill them

Entire box would need removing. Unless your doing a clutch-job it's highly impractical
