Can anyone tell me if you can use the cheat way of doing the rear springs on a 3series coupe?

This is where you undo the bottom shock bolt and wind down the hub with a jack then reach in take spring out and swap with new one.

This is where you undo the bottom shock bolt and wind down the hub with a jack then reach in take spring out and swap with new one.

Yup. You shouldn't even need to use a jack to wind the hub down. Just remove the bottom shock bolt, use one arm to pull down on the hub and remove the spring. It helps if you have a mate with ya to push down on the hub with his foot.

* Take note * It is 100% necessary to use axle-stands for this job. A Jack alone will not do
