Just want to say hello, i'm Jason and live in Norwich, Norfolk.

I have recently bought a beauty of a 1991 BMW 325i E36. The first owner bought it from Neeps of Colchester, Essex and had this dealership service and MOT it up until July this year. It has every MOT and receipt including Sales Invoice as well as a fully stamped up service book.

Mr Jarrold (1st owner) decided in October that he was getting too frail to keep his prized BMW so asked his nephew who lives in Norwich to sell it for him, unfortunately 6 weeks ago he passed away aged 92 years.

I bought it last Monday having seen it parked on a road near my house and it's a joy to have, it needs some slight work the rear arches are only starting to rust and it has been booked into the bodyshop in early February. Then it's going to be garaged (as per from new) and only used for the Summer/Show season.

Motor sounds a real treat mate. Great find I'd say.

      Rough idle problem

      Hello Dave, Just an update and I think you may be right. Went out and gave it a few revs when cold, nothing. Let it warm up and there was a loud “shoooo”. I’ve attached a photo of where the sound was coming from. Going to get it looked into but do you have any idea of what it could be? First BMW, always had vag cars so engine are a little different to what I’m used to

      Hello Dave thanks for your reply, thanks for the reply and it does sound like that could be the problem. I was thinking injector but never pops an engine light up so wasn’t certain. Was serviced 6500 miles ago but was just oil and filters. Going to check later and see if I can see any visible cracks or splits. Got a friend who has a garage and will obd and smoke test it for me.       E53 petrol fail safe again.

      Morning Stu Long time since I played with a straight six so the old memory might be wonky here so check realoem From memory it is linked to the Air Pump and Vacuum control system. Find the Airpump and follow the Vac lines to the rear of the engine you should find a valve with a plug on top (or end) first make sure all lines are good no splits or cracks check the valve is operating, dont forget there is a non return vale in the system close to the inlet manifold.       Water leak at sharkfin aerial

      Morning Vic New one to me but I guess anywhere there is a joint is suspect. Like the seals around the rear lights that suddenly start to leak, removing them a good clean and renewing the seals seems to work. Check www.realoem.com to see what is fitted and how Dave

      Rough idle problem

      Morning Billy When was the car last serviced ? The symptoms you describe could be due to an air or vacuum leak, old hoses seals and vacuum lines can start to crack when cold they are stiff and don't leak (as much) when hot and flexible you see the issue developing. Your OBD Scanner needs to be BMW capable a standard scanner will only see critical functions. Dave
