Never been a popular shape (seems a tad fat!), and was a heavier model, almost as heavy as a 7series... Littered with design faults too, like the tedious lamp lenses which fade very quickly for example... The M52 wasn't really suited to this car IMHO :(

Had to be a 3 litre+ to make it move right !!

Thats what I meant, the straight six just doesn't cut it with the E39... Just makes it a "Grandad" car !

You mean the m62 dont you, m52 is a six pot.and its a 3.5 litre.? Confused now lol.

Dabs means the M52. Great engine but what he believe is that the car benefits from a 3Ltr+ and the M52 goes up to a 2.8.

I love the E39 BUT... I don't understand why anyone would have a 535i when they would have a 735i?
