Hi guys, if I sit on motorway at say 50 mph the revs fluctuate slightly, it also, upon gently throttle, seem tobe a bit under powered but if you need it to fly it will seems a strange one I know. Done 159k well looked after and serviced regular. Took it to an Indy and he gave me a list of faults 6 glow plugs and 2 thermostats were the main issues as he thought it was a dpf fault, back pressure was a lot higher I think. Any help appreciated cheers De

Hey Dean,

Is it a manual or Automatic? If manual and the revs don't appear to be matching your speed, your clutch might be slipping. When you floor it, is the car's bark more aggressive then it's bite? Are the revs spiking and that's not being reflected in your acceleration? (Knackered clutch / rear oil seal failure)

Ah okay mate

Yeah, look into the DPF being faulty (Fault codes should reveal this to an experience BMW specialist without much doubt). People are known to delete the DPF all together ;) inquire about it

so weird, i was about to post a similiar thing that happened to me only yesterday. My 530d has been running rough when idling and was particulary bad yesterday morning. then as I was going along the M4 at a steady 75mph at about 1700rpm the car lost all power and very little response from the throttle, this lasted about 30secs before all was restored to normal. done 400miles since without fault. is this the same or similiar thing?? by the way its an auto with a remap if that has any bearing on it. thanks in advance. had it connected up yesterday and the stored fault code was a turbo pressure one, the mechanic believes it could of been something to do with the EGR. don't know for sure but its running lovely now so I have decided to wait until it happens again and see if the same fault code comes up.

having had it tested and the problem not re occurring i did find that 5 of the heater plugs were faulty and so having changed those and cleaned the sensor for the EGR it appears to be ok. lets hope.
