My ABS light has come on also the handbrake warning light is on. This light has come on and gone off quite a few time , but this time it stays on. When I plugged in the fault code reader it came up with the error code of 5DF5. Control unit internal fault. Any ideas ? Does mean replacing the ABS unit. Is it expensive ?I am extremely reluctant to go near the BMW main dealer. My car is a 2002 E46 estate.

My mates had the same a few years ago.,., it was the abs pump I think I'll find out a little more off him tomorrow I know it was very pricey and he just cleared the code and sold the car!!! His was a e46 320ci

      Sorry, I can’t open any files… but mine will ding if the temperature is below 5’ as a warning of ice. Maybe it’s set to 10’ in yours?? just a thought

      Hi i have BMW x1 f48 2018 in cold weather up to 10 deq two or three minutes after open the door of the car a noise appears does not matter if engine is on or still off the noise appears for 10 or 20 seconds and disappears I am attaching a recording to give you an idea what noise I mean.       Thank you, Dave, this is just the sort of advice that I'm after and you have summed up the symptom perfectly. I've just been into Halliwell Jones (BMW North Wales) and they're looking for £156 per hour for a diagnosis! So any advice is welcome.
