Hi, recently a new owner of a 1 series I am wondering if i need to always have run flat tyres put on. I heard that the car handles better with normal tyres. Is this the case?

Run flats are constructed with a thcker and more robust sidewall, therefore handling is inevitably negatively affected.

I'm not a fan. They seem to give a much harsher ride. I prefer my ride to feel like marshmallow..

Runflats do ride worse than normal tyres as jeffthro mentioned.

I would say it depends on if you would rather have a safety net if a tyre burst or have a nicer riding car.

you do have to be careful with your insurance if it is a car that should have run flats,i.e. if you have an accident with regular tyres on they may not pay out

I had the same issue on a previous car. Insurance told me I had to have run flats as that's what the car came standard with :(. I agree that regular tyres ride and handle much better.
