Evening eveyone. Just got my first bmw, its a 316i 1998, and was wondering if anyone can help. When I picked it up yesterday from the seller it over heated on the way home. Made it home and done a forum search and found the correct way to fill and bleed the coolant system. Run the car up today and the temp gauge needle sat on the half way mark. Happy days. Only problem now is that I have no hot blown air in the car. Disconnected the coolant in pipe that goes through the bulk head to the heater matrix but no coolant come out. Both feed into the matrix and out feel hot but no circuiulating coolant. Anybody have any ideas as its a lovely car and for what I paid its worth a bit of effort to get it going . Any help greatly recieved.

I would start with the cheapest fix first. Try changing the expansion tank cap. If its not holding the pressure, it wont circulate the coolant. Also the stat may be stuck open and may need replacing.

Cheers bruce, just ordered a new cap and thermostat. I think I will give the cooling system a bit of a service and good flush while I have it drained and then at least I am starting afresh and see how it goes. Many thanks for your ideas
