Hi all I'm haveing starting problems with my 02 3.0 d x5 , it first happend a couple of weeks back , went to the Trafford centre , came out couple of hours later and wouldn't start ? It cranks over and there's plenty of power in battery , after around 20 mins it just fired up and then has been ok for a couple of weeks until this weekend , it's been plugged on a live diagnostics computer and it came back with low fuel pressure but no codes could it be fuel rail sensor or maybe crank sensor ?? There's a new fuel on and can see fuel in the pipes , any info greatly appreciated

Not a diseasal owner but my son had this issue with his Nissan pick up turned out to be 3 injectors were not holding pressure. When the engine was cold it started first time, when it was hot it would crank for ages and sometimes not start at all.

He had all the injectors refurbished and his truck starts first time everytime again. Low fuel rail pressure was the diagnosis that led to the solution.

I hope this helps, a leak down test should confirm things.

Hi Daniel,

Maybe worth seeing if that fuel pump is kicking in when it is suppose to be. Next time it does it, maybe get the ol' multimeter on it?

It turns out it was the inline pump underneath the car with a intermitant fault ( sometimes would work and others not ) any way new pump on and seems fine , thanks for your replays
