There are many car owners know very little about car maintenance knowledge, for example,
some car owners often short-range low-speed driving, leading to engine deposits,
car alarms occur, and thus considered to be automotive quality problems.
Recommend this Zhongjing Li is given regularly drove Lara-speed, high
temperature and high speed when the engine is running, can automatically
eliminate carbon deposits. Of course, if possible, or try to drive less.
Otherwise, the same problem can not be avoided any vehicle. Coke problem is
relatively typical "misunderstanding", in addition to carbon, burning
oil is also true. Many owners have complained their car burning oil phenomenon,
in fact, this phenomenon is perfectly normal. The difference is that each
vehicle will have oil loss, but not every car will alarm. As previously
mentioned article, the BMW has a CBS system, when oil consumption to a certain
amount, it will be lit yellow alarm.

Note here
that the yellow light, red light instead of the normal models. What is the
difference between what? Amber light when the vehicle can continue driving, but
less than normal because of the amount of oil, so the owners of BMW recommends
to the nearest service station for proper oil added. But if the red light, the
vehicle is necessary for on-street parking, phone calls rescue. It is for this
consideration, the BMW is very intelligent design in advance oil warning
(yellow), and many brand cars such as Hayabusa with Hayabusa conrods do not like CBS maintenance system, only oil lamps will really exhausted when the alarm (red light), You can say that it is
too "late." But the situation is rare but exhausted oil, which leads
to a lot of people think that BMW is often due to lack of oil and alarm, engine
burning oil will spread. It seems precautions are not necessarily
"good". I think BMW is not going to cancel this self-test system, so
if I can maintain mileage dropped to 5000 km again? Both to increase the
store's maintenance revenue, but also to conceal the normal consumption of oil.

Off at a very slight tangent, but an old boy I was talking to in the pub on Saturday night told me that even if old cars ( fifty years or

older ) are converted from dynamo to alternator, they still won't be able to put any charge into the battery when just ticking over ; they need to run at higher revs to do that. He's a retired Jaguar mechanic so I guess he should know. Does this seem correct ?

Basically correct, but there is also the consideration about how much juice is being used regularly too. In the winter, for example, starter might need a bit more power first off, then you switch headlights on, then you turn the heater blower on, then the Music, heated seats, and so on and so on. So you can imagine very short journeys very often will soon have the battery struggling, then a longish run at decent revs will be needed. Just poddling around town stopping and starting will not be enough.
