As the title says really , I'm looking at buying a 5 series but the manuals a pretty rare I've never really thought about buying an automatic are they any good? Any reliability issues?

Has to be Auto buddy...

With a rare manual the computer can only react on timings, with the Auto it can advise and adapt :)

Big car, stick with the Auto ;)

Dabsy is right in the technical sense, (he always is, or at least, he'll tell you he always is, :) ), but the other aspect is, what do you feel more comfortable driving? I'm an Old Git, and I've driven manual and auto, (My wife has had many Autos' over the years), but I am much happier with manual and manual much better suits my style of driving.
