Button On Key Fob In Rag Order

Hi guys,

I've just pickred up the bimmer and I love it, but the buttons on the key fob are totally shot. The remote is totally fine though, and both of them start the car.

Is there anyone that happens to have any of the rubber buttons? Or, how hard are they to reprogramme? Is it worth buying one of those £20 diagnostic cables off ebay?

I've managed to find replacement buttons, any tips on taking the fobs apart?

Well, according to my handbook, the keys, and their batteries, are sealed for life. But since you've managed to find replacement buttons, I guess there must be some way of fitting them. But please be very careful Steve, if you knack the insides it'll be new keys and re-set the whole system, and that's £££££.

Two screws were all it took to get at the insides, hopefully I can get it sorted. I'll let you know in the morning.

Looks promising, Steve. There are no screws anywhere on mine, seems to be a factory sealed module.

This is mine, it came apart really easily, but there's a grey chip looking thing loose in there.

Ah, right. Completely different to mine! I guess a loose bit inside may not be good, not just a case of replacing the buttons. Fingers crossed it'll be OK.

It still starts the car, I'm hoping it's the IMMO transponder so just has to be near the key.

The "Non-screw" versions are pop-out type or case-split... Either type are fixable ;)

Looks and works a load better, just need some new batteries for them now.
