Hi there,

My headlight lenses are in a bit of a poo state, and rather than replace them I was going to try applying a tinting film. Is it pretty easy to apply without bubbling? Is a heat gun required? Where's the best place to get the film from?

Hi Steve,

You want those headlights as strong as possible. Tinting them is counter productive. Deal with them properly and restore them. Putting a morning aside to cut into them with some good compound will make them look amazing.

Sound advice, I guess I was looking for the easiest option LOL I'm still tempted to just buy new lenses.

Get a sheet of "Fly eye" headlight tint, easy to install... Even the knife is included, just requires a hairdryer (Heat) for the round bits :)

I'm liking that idea, I've got pretty brght head lights so a bit of tint won't make too much difference.

Will look horrid

I have tinted my side light lenses in my E36 with Lamin-x and mine have come out really well and were relatively easy to do.

But personally I wouldn't suggest using and cheap eBay stuff, had a few friends do this and noticed that it starts to fade rather quick.

So personally I would say either give them a good restore, get new ones or buy some proper lamin-x. But nothing to say they could do with a good restore to ensure the lamin-x is nice and bright and doesn't come peeling back off.
