Im about to change the fuel filter on my 320D for the first time, on my old petrol car the steps were ,

depressurise the fuel system ,

remove filter hoses (a b*****d to do without breaking)

put new filter in

and re attach hoses (even more of a b*****d to do) and done

Just to make sure Ive been looking for a guide on line and the only one i can find mentions nothing of depressurising the fuel system. is this a diesel thing? or is it a crap guide as im thinking the fuel has to be pressurised to fire out the injectors at crazy speeds right?

so can anyone advise on if and how i do that on this car, sadly theres no haynes manual for my chassis /engine and year
