Hi all, Just bought my first BMW, a 2001 318i SE and I must admit I already love it. One thing I am a bit concerned about is that at high speed, say over 70mph, the steering is a bit vague and twitchy. The car seems to almost want to drive itself and it doesn't take much movement of the steering wheel for it to react. I have replaced both front tyres as although legal, they were a bit worn. It passed it's MOT only 2 weeks ago so I don't think there is a problem with any of the suspension/ steering bits. Has anyone any ideas ?.
Thanks.

sounds like a tracking or alignment problem. especially if your old tyres where wearing uneven,. also prone to lower arm play on rubber bushs.check which tyre has the most abnormal wear as this should help pin point the problem hope this helps good look

I think you may have been right. I had all the tracking etc done a couple of days ago and it now drives perfectly. Thanks for reply.
