Hi. As the proud new owner of a 2010 Series 3 SE Business Edition, I was looking for some help.

I would like to play Music from an MP3 player through the car's stereo.

The only option I seem to have is to connect it via a mini jack under the centre arm rest but I am unable to control the MP3 player remotely this way.

Is there any way of doing it without a USB connection other than the one in the glovebox?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Paul

There is a USB port in the glovebox which I understand is used for software upgrades? I have read on some models you can also download Music through this 'port' to the I Drive hard disc but mine doesn't seem to have this facility. I have also read that a lot of the range have USB ports in the central armrest but mine doesn't - just a mini jack and some sort of Iphone dock. Unfortunately I do not have an I Phone.

All I want to do is plug a MP3 player or a memory stick in and control it through the I Drive.... surely there must be a simple way of doing this?

Regards

Mike

PS I only have the single CD model.

The user manual seems to indicate you can use the port in the glove box to store files? Perhaps this could be a solution for you?

Thanks Paul. This is what I was hoping to do but I do not have any of the options relating to Music. I can choose aux (front) which seems to be the mini jack in the armrest or CD.

I guess my car just doesn't have this facility - and most others it appears!

I am looking at something like this now:-

Thanks again

Yes, a memory stick. I was told yesterday by someone in a specialist BMW garage that the Business edition does not have a hard drive so I am stuffed!

Would be useful if someone with the same model ie 'se business edition' could tell me if they can do what I am trying to achieve?

Thanks again Paul

Mike

Seems bizarre that you have the USB in the glove box and nothing happens. Even if you don't have the hard drive you would assume it would at least play?

Sadly mine didn't come with a USB seeing as it's a bit too old!
