Hello one and all, I have just joined.

The reason why I have joined is that I have just started to look around buying another car and this time I am tempted to look out for an X3, so in actual fact I told a fib when I enrolled as I don't actually own one yet!!

Basically I am having a battle with my most beloved, she wants me to buy a LandRover Freelander whereas I want to buy either an X3 or a 3 series touring of which I wouldn't be wanting to go for any of the latest designs as I far prefer the looks of the model that ran up to 2004.  And I would only be wanting to go for a diesel version.

So basically I am looking to find out the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of owning either.

    Hi Phil, welcome!

    The freelander is an OK car (assuming you avoid the early K series versions) but it's not a patch on the driving experience you'd get from an X3 or 3 series.

    Also, an equivalent X3 looks a lot more modern in my opinion than the freelander of that era.
