I have owned 'ordinary' 3-series cars since the late 90s (I currently have a '14 reg 325d M-Sport), but never an M model and now I am in a position to be able to afford one, albeit only a used one. I have a budget of around £35,000 and I need 4 doors, so I am thinking an E90. It will be my only car and I do 70 miles a day to and from work. I am worried about a) the fuel consumption, and b) putting a lot of miles on it.

Can any existing owners tell me I'm either a nutcase, or a fool to wait a minute longer? Should I get one?

Thanks.
