E87 N47 116D 2011 - ENGINE HESITATION.
Hi Dave, Heres an update on this. I employed the services of an auto electrician, who pointed me in the direction of a failed / failing ecu. However he did recommend changing out the MAF sensor first before embarking on the ecu issue, as cloning a second hand unit would be north of £200. It appears from the date code on the Bosch MAF sensor that this has already been replaced within the last 3 yrs, and swapping this out for a new one did not improve the situation, in the terrible running of the car, so I put the old one back in. I bought an ECU and CAS unit and keys ( £40 off ebay) and was going to try this first. I removed my ECU to get the part # from it and left it out of the vehicle until the replacement arrived. 3 days later I had to plug it back in to move the car in preparation for the change out, and to my surprise. It fired up and after a cough and a splutter the motor ran smoothly and was responsive on the throttle, with no smoke, or hesitation. I have tentatively taken it out multiple times on increasing distances and have now covered over 50 miles without any hesitation or smoking. Still have these 2 fault these present and stored, so still requires further investigation, but at least its driveable.. 40E9: exhaust gas recirculation control, position control 4B81: Exhaust gas recirculation rate control, control deviation -

New to BMW owner saying hello :-)
Afternoon Gerry Welcome to the Forum I hope you enjoy your Beemer Takea look at www.realoem.com it is a BMW online parts list which should begood for your car/year. Put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and it will call up your model. Then search the sections you need to to get any Part numbers for spares that way you know it will fit. Oil, most main brands that meet BMW LL04 SAE 5-30 Oil Filter, Mann are OEM suppliers I use ECP for most bits but always search the nett for deals to keep costs sensible, don't dismiss the Dealer though they can be competitive quite often. For Warranty, BMW Warranty isnt cheap but check them out before making final decisions My 2003 X5 4.6is was full BMW history but as the warranty had lapsed by just over a year they declined I went with Warranty Direct who took it on happily and covered it until it was 16years old (a lot less than BMW) My E70 is with Warranty Wise best price when I brought it Good Luck and most of all ENJOY Dave -

New to BMW owner saying hello :-)
Hi all, I've just joined the forum as I bought myself a 2018 X1 2.0i xLine (Xdrive) car. It has a "leather Dakota Oyster" which the wife and I like a lot. It's a low mileage (17.5K) ex Motability car in really quite good condition apart from some very minor scuffs on the passenger door, which I think will buff out. The dealer had quite a few Motability cars and they all seemed to have quite a bodywork touch ups and damaged plastics but this was the best of the bunch. To some questions / advice please. It's got a FSH but I would like to change out the oil and oil filter and put some premium oil in ASAP but as I don't have the owners manual yet is Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 Advanced the good option? I'm also considering putting it on a BMW Extended warranty as it has DCT gearbox, I'm not sure if it's a 7 or 8 speed box but this box is my main concern. I assume I can put a 6 year old car on warranty with BMW? As I'm looking to get a BMW extended warranty, I'd like to put a BMW oil filter, air filter and cabin filter in the car. Where is a good place online to get genuine parts? I'm sure I could use the BMW site but their site didn't seem easy to navigate for parts. In the past I've used Ebay when buying genuine parts for other makes but would rather find a decent online specialist for BMW parts and be able to ask questions etc. Finally it's a "mineral-grau metallic", which is for me is nice easy colour as it's requires less cleaning than some other colours. Thanks -

Yes 650i convertible, my error by the way I though I read 325Ci. mine and yours should be near enough identical. Here are the images I mentioned. pic 1 - back corner of the storage area - 1 each side pic 2 - literally adjacent to the rear strut pillar Pic 3 - rear corner nearest to the rear of the vehicle right side Pic 4 - as above left side Pic 5 - same as pic 1 but other side - this location is tucked right back immediately under the folding brackets. I am not aware of any other drains under that protective cover as that does not lift up. There have been times I have had several inches of water in there sloshing about but none has actually entered the passenger compartment. As I said I do look to blow through these drains on a regular basis. Hope this helps. I have had water getting into the boot area carpet, this rides under that black plastic cover you can see in pics 3/4. and drips into the boot. BTW Im in Formby and more than happy to meet and talk it through if that helps. The whole system of the softtop seal onto the car body is not watertight hence the need for drains but these have to be kept clear otherwise water does build up and can get into the boot area as noted above.
