Has anyone upgraded their headlights using a HID conversion kit. I've got a 2014 116d and was contemplating doing it but thought I would seek advice from others first.

If your car has self leveling suspension and/or headlamp washers I believe you will be OK with a HID upgrade and not fall foul of any construction and use regulations.

Just a thought do you have LED headlamps your ID shows 116d 2018 ? should that be 2016? If your headlamps have Halogen bulbs you can upgrade to HID if they are LED I don't think so

It's a 2014 model. It's just got the standard halogen bulbs. I was just wondering if anyone else had done a upgrade so I knew where best to buy etc. Thanks for your reply

Google HID's Direct they have plenty of experience and a good reputation. Both of my sons have used their upgrade kits, and on my youngest sons Toyota the difference is literally night and day.

Just make sure you have headlamp washers so you don't fall foul at MOT time as I believe the lighting regs state washers or self leveling or both

      Angel eye install…. Stupid glue!

      Well…. It begins! The dremel was useless and just kept snapping blades, so I went for the next option…. 2000 watt heat gun…. 4 hours later I have a melted set of lights and some angel eyes in position. I managed to pull the wire out of one of the halos so I’ll get the soldering kit out 🙄 once all the halos are in and working, I’ll fit the new lenses and mould the mos sharpen bits back again… hopefully!

      Electrical issue

      Morning Gary Welcome to the Forum Even a relativley new battery can die fully charge the battery (make sure you use the charge points under the bonnet) measure the voltage engine off key out at the charge points it should read 12.5 to 12.8v below 12v is either dying battery or a dead short somewhere. Once battery is at full charge engine running measure again you shouls see 14.8v indicating a healthy alternator. Engine off key out let the car go to sleep (takes up to 10 mins) then measure amperage at the under bonnet charge points you should se a few milliamps (clock, memory items etc) if your seeing higher you have a paracitic drain which will need tracking down. Check the starter motor a failing one can kill a battery really fast Hope this helps Dave

      Electrical issue

      Hi, I have a strange issue on my 2013 2.o diesel X1. It has been runniing fine for years until today when we tried to start it was dead. Tonight i jumped it straight away but now when you start it the lights are on all the time but the windows dash lights and other electrical functions do not work . Now I have run it round the block the battery which is only 6 months old it starts the engine no problem. Any ideas ? could it be an emergency get you home mode as the lights work
