does anybody know if there were key entry remotes for e36's of 1997 vintage as i have bought one but have to actually use the key to get into the car! it also has no cover underneath the engine, should there be one in place?

Hi Barry....welcome to the Forum

Not entirely sure there was a remote fob back then....if there was then it would be easy enough to pick one up and programme it to the car...plenty of info on this site to do this.

Also, I don't think they had undershields on the E36s back then....but I may be wrong, just don't remember seeing them.

Feel free to post up some piccys on here would love to see the old girl.

Morning Barry

Try www.realoem.com enter the last 7 digits of your Vin and have a search you can also search manually the E36 would be in the Classic section I would think.

It is a BMW online parts catalogue so if it was fitted or an option it will show up. Being BMW though it isn't always logical which section they put things in so have a good poke around.

Good Luck
