Hi guys,

I'm new so apologies for being relatively clueless.

Bought a BMW 1 series recently and the trim by the window sticks out a bit (see image below). If I shove it down it goes in a bit but pops back up later.

Beyond gluing it down, is there an easy fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ian...welcome to the Forum

Have seen this a few times on different cars, proper way would be to remove it and replace the broken clips.

Alternatively a bit of glue or self adhesive tape may work

thanks. I'll try the glue/tape route but how tricky a job do you think replacing it is? Kind of thing I could muddle through myself or would I need someone who knew what they were doing? Also what might it set me back to get the replacement clip (and trim if it is also damaged)?

Morning Ian

Take a look at www.realoem.com an online BMW parts catalogue if you enter the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box it will bring up your car spec.

Then search bodywork (I think) it will give an exploded drawing showing how it fits together plus part numbers.

If your car is like the X5 there are internal and external weather strips, hope this helps

thanks for the responses!

Not got around to fixing that issue yet, but someone has stolen my kidney grill! Managed to do it without setting off the alarm, or popping open the hood. I'm pretty disappointed!
