Speedo is not working

Hello, I’ve recently brought a Bmw e83 x3 and the speedo is not working the Rev counter does but the speed registers 0. I was wondering if this is a common problem and if anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I believe that the X3 is the same as the X5 check the passenger side ABS sensor at the rear as the speed is taken from there.

Thank you for that information. The ABS light is also on so that may well be the problem.

Hi Dale 

If you have ABS and Traction lights on then almost certainly that's the culprit.Did mine a few years ago from memory OEM was about £30 for the sensor, check the reluctor ring is clean and not clogged with muck and rust.
