HI ALL,

New to the forum & BMW ownership. Bought a 2007 X3 3.0D M SPORT AUTO and the front wiper linkage is worn and broke.

I have the correct UK Right Hand Drive OEM Part number 61617051670 but cannot find a new one in the UK ??

All the ones i have found on EBAY and similar sites including EURO CAR PARTS, GSF CAR PARTS and the like link the request to a similar part number (61617051669) which is for a Left Hand Drive which are different parts completely of course.....

Has anyone had the same problem ?

How did you source a new one ? as i don't want to but second hand / used as the ones i have seen online are rusty too just like my broke one......

Any direction would be greatly appreciated 😊

Thanks man, just called them and can't buy the linkage on its own. You have to buy it with motor £300 😲

Worth a try, BMW are brilliant aren't they even Mercedes were willing to sell me parts.

I had the rear diff go BMW response "its a sealed unit sir we only supply a complete diff exchange"  (so the evidence disappears) I managed to find a rebuild kit from the USA but that took some searching.

Have you tried any of the BMW specialist dismantler's I have used Quarry Motors in Sheffield before and found them very helpful but there are several around the country.

Hi Dave,

I haven't tried those specificly but most second hand / salvage parts I've seen suffer with the centre post rusting which causes the spindle to eat itself and self destruct. I think for the aggro removing it and fitting it I'll try one last fix then might have to stump up some cash and just buy one. I've found a RHD unit in Latvia for £120. 😲 Oh well looks like Latvia is gonna be getting an order soon. Thanks man for the replies it has helped a lot 👍

One last shot! Have a look at www.realoem.com if you aren't aware it is a BMW online parts list get the part number for your model then cross reference it with other models see if there is an alternative in there. Like all manufacturers a lot of parts are used across the ranges of vehicles.

Hi Dave,

Looked on there and the price is more than other places. I'm looking up the part number not the model of car to try to avoid that thing that just because it's an X3 prices should be more. I'm getting together with my dad at the weekend to try our last fix. I'll keep you posted on the outcome 😀 Fingers crossed eh 😂

Morning Anthony

realoem is a parts list the prices are in US Dollars and are just an indication. Laws in the US mean companies like BMW have to make information available that they can hide in Europe/UK

So my thinking was get the BMW part number for the X3 then cross reference it with other models, 3 series, 5 series X5 etc. As BMW don't make wiper motors they just buy them If you can get the manufacturer then try their web site (probably Bosch or Magnetti) The mechanism may be more difficult though
