I wanted to share with you the series of events that saved me £700  and a trip to BMW dealer. I bought a 325i 2006 three years ago.  I needed to charge my mobile phone so I used the cigarette lighter with a USB charger. On a trip to Wales the DTC warning light came on. we stopped for 10 mins and we moved on afterwards. The warning came up two weeks alter on a similar journey to the Lake District. I though my car does not like uphill driving. A visit to BMW dealer suggested changing unit for £700. I slept on it, my wife drove the car to Wales and used her own charger and she had no problem. The faulty bit in this whole saga was the cheap£2 charger. changing it to one that has a fuse (Beklin) did the trick.... lesson to learn
