EGR Vehicle safety recall
Had my BMW recalled for EGR cooler replacement, this was BMWs 3rd attempt to recall my car as their was no stock available, just before my car ecperienced every symptom on recall letter as I was driving around 65mph on motorway. Car was screaming, lost power, smoke pouring out exhaust that I couldnt see out back window, I reported this to BMW who accepted responsibilty and sent recovery to collect car, they replaced the EGR system but are now saying the car has incurred further damage which will cost me thousands of pounds and they are not accepting liability for this, anyone else had similar issues, car been in their garage since before xmas and I have now escalated this to the motor ombudsman. Been a nitemare few weeks as still have an outstanding balance to pay to car. -

'05 630i No start
Hello , just picked up a 2005 plate 630i , car managed the drive home about 40 miles just fine, started and ran all was well, started the car this morning, the key light came on flashing while the car was running After I turned off the ignition, and went to restart the car I got nothing, no illumination of the dash , no error for the key , nothing , dash does light up when you push the trip button etc , battery has charge , everything was working fine until I turned it off. Any ideas or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, I do have a new key on order from BMW , just because it only came with one key which looks like it had definitely been messed with before. -

Inlet manifold leak after EGR recall
Hi I'm a Newby, Took my 2015 x1 in for recall to replace egr, didn't use the heater for a few days when I did it was stone cold, on inspection no water in reservoir, topped it up and it went empty again put another litre of coolant in went down again, the heater did work for a day then cold again I have discovered the egr is coupled to the cooling system can't see any visual leaks, seem ominous, any thoughts anyone? Thanks. -

Coil springs
Afternoon Craig It may be a PITA but if your struts are fine then a change of spring would be the route I would take Not trying to teach Granny but ride is a combination of Spring/rate (how stiff they are) and Shock absorber Bump/Rebound rate. BMW like rising rate springs (fairly soft to begin then stiffening as load increases) no surprise that they spend a lot of engineering time getting the right blend of spring rate against shock absorber bump/rebound Have you tried talking to a BMW Dealer to see if you can get just the springs ? Another route would be a Bilstien Agent (Bilstien are an OEM supplier) I have been told a Company called EAL Automotive have original spec springs again worth Google search and talk to them. Hope this makes sense Dave
