Electronic of X3 failing to unlock doors

My BMW X3, 2011 edition, VIN/ Engine No. WBAWX52010L397956 is giving me a problem of refusing to open doors using the electronic key. The car started by complaining that the key battery need to be replaced. Thereafter, it lost the response to the key. I have since replaced the batteries with brand new ones but the key can not unlock the doors, I can only unlock the driver's door manually. The electronic key can still lock the door electronically though. I suspect it needs to be reset or reprogrammed. Please kindly advise.
