Hey folks,
I have an e90 2005 320d with the business stereo/cd player and have a phone button on unit and steering wheel but tried all YouTube videos on connecting my phone and zip nada nothing?! Seems like it has no Bluetooth?!

Have an aux port in arm rest but no USB

Any ideas why it isn't working????

Hi Mike

I'm no expert but it may be the age of the car and it's level of technology isn't compatible with an up to date phone.

14/15 years is a long time in technology terms so you may need either a newer car or an older phone !

If no-one on the forum can help, maybe try a local in-car entertainment specialist or an independent BMW garage as a main dealer will probably charge just to investigate.

Final suggestion  - speak to the previous owner if possible.

Hope you get it sorted, it's legal and so much safer than holding the phone !!

Try looking at www.mdecoder.com put the last 7 digits of your vin number in the search box and it will bring up the build sheet for your car

Dont despair if it hasnt most of the wiring will be there so it should be a fairly simple retro fit or Parrot system

Cheers Dave, I'll check the vin later on once coffee and bacon have been consumed

Hi Mike

The BMW ULF (Bluetooth) units were not the greatest but most work OK I do know a few struggled with later I phones, remember that if the ULF memory is full you can't pair any more phones so it may be worth clearing the memory down and trying again.

Use www.realoem.com again last 7 digits of your vin in the search box and it will have a complete list of parts fitted to your model plus options. So if you do go the retrofit route you know you have the correct parts.

Good Luck

Hiya Dave,

I had a look at realoem.com and couldnt find anything suggesting Bluetooth operation bar that some of the early e90's came with a phone built it?!

The other site wouldnt work at all, said it didnt recognise my Vin.

A bit confused now..lol..

I'll be upgrading the headunit given time anyway as the sound system is pretty horrific in my opinion and obviously the headunit is the biggest restriction to better sounding Music in the car

If your upgrading take a look at Dynavin I had one of their units in my 4.4 the new N6 and N7 I am told also retain all the OBC functions
