Hi everyone

I have a x5 e53 diesel, sometimes it will not start, no crank, just lights on the dashboard, leave for about twenty minutes and it will start, doesn’t do it all the time, just every now and again, had a new battery fitted, ignition switch and new sensor fitted on the Ignition.

Is it automatic or manual?

if it’s manual, can you push start it?

my thoughts are...
starter motor if it’s manual or automatic

or

gear select sensor If it’s automatic (if they have them fitted, basically they tell the car not to start if they are in gear)

can you put a 12v feed direct to the starter motor?

good luck, let me know what happens
