I wasn’t sure where to put this post but nowhere seemed to suit it

Im looking into buying a 1 series 2015 (facelift) M Sport Manual which has suffered repairable non structural damage.  I’ve already looked into costs for the bumper etc. (things I could fix myself) but I’m still stuck with the airbags.  From the photos it looks like at least the drivers steering wheel and front passenger airbags deployed.  I can find a replacement drivers airbag but I’m not sure about passenger ones.  I also read elsewhere that there is some kind of system that detects that the airbags deployed that would need reset?

Now, to the point...  Would I need a whole new dashboard since the passenger airbag went off and would it be expensive to get the airbag warning stuff reset once the car is repaired?  Thanks.

I should mention I’m in the UK so things might be different?  Thanks again

EDIT: I just realised in one of the photos the engine is on and the Rev counter is sitting at just under 1k RPM but the little display where mileage etc. Is normally shown isn’t on...  also the consumption gauge looks like it’s at full even though the car is idling.  Could these be further problems with the brains of the car? (I’ve attached the photo)

Hi Kieran....welcome to the Club

Replacement of the air bags is a relatively easy job but you will also have to replace the controller which will now be defunct and code in a new one.
Also, some sensors may have to be replaced also.
Technically, everything associated with the SRS including the wiring loom should be replaced following an incident that has led to the Airbags deploying.

Let us know how you get on with it all
