Hello, I have a 2009 BMW 328 I Xdrive with 71k miles. A few days ago I pulled the car out of the garage to take my lawnmower out. The car started fine the first time no issues or out of the ordinary noises. The car sat outside not started for about an hour or so. I go to start the car so I can park it back in the garage and right when I start it the cooling fan kicks in on full speed (kinda sounded like a jet) A/C wasn't on it was about 62 degrees outside. I let it run for about 2-3 min hoping the fan stops running so fast but it just kept running on full speed. I looked on other forums and the majority were saying the water pump is on its way out. But, I wanted to make sure it's the water pump going out and not a simple sensor. So, I ordered the AutoPhix 7910 of Amazon and checked for fault codes and got fault code 2EE6. Any idea of what that fault code means? Coolant sensor fault

Morning Mohammad

BMW fit 2 coolant temperature senders, 1 in the bottom hose and the 2nd in the upper hose from the rad. The DME (engine management) uses signals from both to control the fan and other stuff. I would suspect one of the sensors has failed possibly both. As you will have to dig down to get to them I would change both and the thermostat to be sure. The water pump on your car is electric I believe but I haven't read of many failures, doesn't mean it cant happen.

Take a look at www.newtis.info for some "How Too" help

Hope this helps

Dave
