Hey everyone

New member here 😅. BMW X1 2010 Xdrive

Here's a screenshot of some faults that came up when I exchanged the battery the other day (that went fine in the end). The Park Distance control has never worked (flashing green light on button). The stop start has never worked (hopefully would start working after new battery - but didnt after a 2 mile test)....is there anything to do that I can check its functionality? including the PDC?

Lastly, The code CF80 might have something to do with the transfer box? Does it need its fluid changed? There are no lights on the dash whatsoever and the car drives and performes well. The mileage is 80,000 miles (127.8km as indicated). Ive seen the steering angle issue previously on another BMW...can this be rectified easily? does it matter?

Let me know if you have useful information for fixes. I have access to ISTA D so easy to check things. 😊

Thanks

D

Morning Davvid

Welcome to the Forum

First when I got my X5 as an old engineer I have a need to know?? So one of the first things I discovered was BMW insisted the gearbox and drive train were sealed for life. That just didn't sit well with me so investigate and after talking with ZF who make the gearbox discovered they recommend fluid and filter changes every 60k so it seemed to me BMW "Life" was end of their warranty. Needless to say my old E53 has had transmission/transfer box and diff oils/fluids changed every 60k.

Your screen shot only shows 1 permanent fault with the PDC as it says no communication I would suspect the module. Check the connector give it a spray with contact cleaner. clear all faults and see what comes back, if it returns check www.realoem.com for the part number and buy another new/used one. If you haven't used this before put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box it will bring up your model.

Steering angle sensors show when battery voltage drops below parameters or when the battery is disconnected, driving forward while going lock to lock should clear/reset it.

So basically clear down all faults short drive and see what comes back

I ran ISTA D again the other day

It told me that rear left and front left sensors defective on the PDC. So Ive ordered 2 new sensors for £20

The transfer box message wasnt there this time

I checked the battery state of charge and that was now 82%. Will check that next week - seems low for a new battery?

Thanks

Hi Davvid

Who replaced the battery? it may need registering to the car or it may not charge correctly

You can do it using ISTA
