I am thinking of changing my current 66 plate 1 series 118 d sport to a new 1 series M sport but a 1.5 petrol. I am worried it will cost me a load more cash when filling up. Current stats say around £350 a year extra with petrol but that's headline figures not real life facts. Any advice welcome before I purchase the new one!

Thanks

Hi Paulie

Welcome to the Forum

Not much to chose between Petrol and Diesel at the pumps just now and I don't know what the real world average would be between a 118d and a 1.5i Petrol

However I would assume about 10mpg in favour of the diesel, also assuming Road Tax and Insurance is similar then your £350 would buy around 3500 extra miles in the diesel.

If the £350 is important stay with the diesel
