major electrical issues need help and some one who can fix it in nyc

I have an 1997 840Ci that lost the trans computer and now mechanic states the wiring harness is burnt need to locate some mechanic in nyc area that can fix vehicle

There is an internal harness in the transmission plus the external harness. Which one is toast ?

If it is the external harness between box and EGS then either an Auto Electrician to cut out damaged sections and replace/repair them then use www.realoem (classic section) put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model.

Sorry can't help with a mechanic but here in the UK we have a Register of BMW Specialists maybe you have similar there? Or maybe talk with Pelican Parts they may have more local knowledge

      Replaced key battery still can't unlock car

      First post, just bought a 2019 1 series sport. Replaced the key fob battery as requested, but the key still doesn't work for unlocking/locking car. It's still asking me to replace the battery, read this goes after a few cycles of locking and unlocking. Locks/unlocks fine on mybmw app. Does the Key need resinking, not sure how long it would have been flat for? TIA

      Rear View mirror has come off windscreen screen

      Hi all, I got the adhesive that was recommended in a you tube video with instructions, it was from Permatex. I had to ensure I removed the old adhesive from the silver disk first which took some doing but needed a sharp knife and a razor blade to lift it all. There was no adhesive debris on the wind screen. To fix I then used a wipe supplied in the kit and used a small amount of the adhesive also supplied. The bond took less than a minute. You do need to be sure of the location as the bond is very quick so ensure you can locate the mirror accurately otherwise it is going to get messy. N.B. I had to remove the two connectors to ensure the mirror could be located properly. It was a little fiddly getting them out but went back once mirror was fixed to the windscreen. A good experience though for me and mirror is back on with the accompanying casing parts also.
