Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can assist me with an ABS related question please.  I have an E39 520i from the year 2000, which is in pretty immaculate condition, except for the fact that I now have the ABS light coming on intermittently.  I am told this is most likely the electronics section of the ABS pump, but it seems these are no longer available.  I therefore wanted to ask if anyone knows where I could either find a suitable replacement or get the original unit repaired perhaps?

It would also be great to understand what the numbers actually signify on these units, just to understand which ones might be compatible and whether a replacement would need to be then coded to my specific car.  The Unit is a Bosch  087037 0 265 900 001  (see pic attached).

Any information would be gratefully received as this is something that I really need to get resolved.

Thanks in advance

Morning Phil

Welcome to the Forum

If you are not aware take a look at www.realoem.com  it's an online BMW parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and it will call up your model the search the section that you need. When you find the part and number double click the part number and you will get a list of alternate part numbers and models compatible parts were used on.

For me the  preferable route has always been repair where I can so Google BBA Reman or ECU Testing I have used both many times over the years very reliable fast turn around and both warranty their work.

Hope this helps

Just a final update on this issue.

After receiving the feedback from Greydog, I contacted ECU Testing and sent in my ABS unit for repair.  The service was super slick and efficient and the unit is now back in the car, working perfectly.  What's more is that I have a warranty on the repair that I expect will see out the life of the car.

If you are having similar difficulties, I can absolutely recommend ECU Testing.

Thanks again to Greydog for the initial response - it is much appreciated

Cheers

Phil.
