Bike carrier prepared

I purchased my 2018 BMW X1 last year and was told it had been "Bike Carrier Prepared". I am now looking to fit a Towbar and was wondering if I will still need a dedicated wiring kit for the Towbar?

I have been told by an audi owning friend that His audi came "Towbar Prepared" and that covers all the relevant wiring.

Anyone help?

Welcome to the Forum

That is a first, I don't think I have ever heard of "Bike Carrier Prepared" before !!

All the bike carriers I have seen mount on the Tow Bar and use the tow bar electrics. Most Tow bar fitting companies will have a dedicated wiring kit that makes it pretty much plug and play I know both Witter and Westfalia do check their websites and agents.

      Air bag fault

      Hello Dave. I don’t know if it will stop the engine from running, I read it in one of the BMW forums. The strange thing is that I don’t get a fault on my dash!! only on the OBD. I got my first 735 last August, loved it from the first ride, and now I am trying to fix all those little things that the main BMW dealer have not bothered to put right, hence my questions.       Air bag fault

      Not unusual for the oil level sensor to fail but never heard of one stopping the engine starting, though it does sound logical I changed 3 on the 4.6is but you have to wait until Oil Change as they are in the bottom of the sump Dave

      Exactly I had to point out I had taken legal advice (luckily had a good pal who is a solicitor) before they took it seriously, they too gave me a rather rough 220i and seem to think that’s good enough for now !

      Hi Mishal Welcome to the Forum Check using www.realoem.com put the laST 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then check the relevant section. When you find the part number you need double click it and you will see a list of any other Part numbers and Models that they were used in.
