Morning Gary

Welcome to the Forum

When the car battery went flat was it (a) replaced? (b) charged ? (c) jump started ?

If it was Jump Started where the jump leads attached in the correct place at the under bonnet charge point if not damage can occur

If it was charged it should have been at the same charge under the bonnet or Battery removed for charging

If the Battery was replaced has it been registered correctly to the chassis

It could be the fuse in the back of the radio

You could try disconnecting the Neg lead for 15 + mins that is a Dealer trick to clear faults and reset stuff

Hope some of this helps

Hi dave thankyou for reply .the battery was took out put on charge .then replaced ,the radio was working fine till battery went flat .tried all fuses in driver footwell all OK 👍. On other sites it has been said that if cd player operates then the fuse is good .just no power to on/ button .seems odd .but inchcape wants £100 just to investigate. Must be a simple solution. Also to remove the radio you have to dismantle most of the dashboard .Great design NOT!!

Car designers engineer them to be easy for the Production line to build not for us to work on

Try disconnecting the Neg on the battery as said it is a Dealer trick to clear glitches ? Also check locally for a BMW Specialist they may well be less cost (hourly rate) than the Dealer but should have the correct Diagnostic Kit

Cheers dave for response, I disconnected the negative. Left for some time .nothing .I've done some more research and apparently on the boost cd faceplate. The circuit board inside .BMW put a piece of felt behind board thus condensation occurs .making the connection rusty .Well done BMW. Will look into this more .

Might need new circuit board as I've found video on this and it's a nightmare to solder up .can't believe something so simple can be pain in the ##### .

Thats what happens when you let clever people loose on design !!

Have you tried talking to people like Cartronix, BBA Reman and ECU Testing I have had great results from all of them with different parts

Only just seen post ,cheers dave will look into this .I've taken radio out and sure as he'll the felt has corroded the board .what a money maker from BMW. Con artists

As said sometimes the clever people need to take a long look at the results of their design and planning. BMW are not alone in positioning sometimes vital parts in stupid places or just poorly designing them. Then trying to get us to pay for their errors.

Audi, Mercedes and a few others have had their moments as well

Good Luck
