Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what these cables are for, I have tried to follow them but they are encased in the plastic, so can't chase them back to source any ideas.

They come up through the central console.

Many thanks once again, please see attached photos.

Cheers Joseph

Morning

The fat one looks like a Fibre Optic feed or an antenna the other connector with multi cables power and control would be a guess

Is the audio/nav system OEM ? it could be part of the Harmon Cardon system if its been changed or part of that system that hasn't been installed    "yet" Check one of the Vin Decoder sites to see what equipment/systems were originally installed

See if you can find a wiring diagram on line that may help, or if you can find someone a member  local to you with BMW INPA/ISTA who can help it will have wiring and workshop data as part of the diagnostic program. BMW or a BMW specialist garage will charge £££ a member here may help for some beer tokens 😁

Hi Dave,

Once again many thanks for your input.

I will get it checked, hopefully by a local member.

Cheers again

If it’s in the centre armrest area it could be the telephone? Some cars still have the harnesses in 2008 models.

One final question, can I just clip the cables and hide them, after I have capped them off of course.

Yeah, they are not currently connected to anything and if you have no intention of using them, tuck them away and hide them. I would check to see if there is a permanent positive feed on one of the cables first though.

Great, so I saw on this site how to remove the empty phone cradle and taped up and tucked the wires behind the central consul and replaced the empty cradle.

I remember someone saying they found a replacement central consul so I have more space, so I will google to see if I can find one.

Thanks again for your advice.
