Help Required- NOX sensor

Looking for a bit of advice. My 2012 BMW 1 series Msport (72000 miles) just failed its MOT on emissions as the lambda was too high. The garage said they ran diagnostic and the NOX sensor needs replacing. This is quite an expensive job (£620 including parts, labour, VAT ect). I’ve said I’ll have a think and took the car home and ran my own OBD diagnostic tool on the car. My concern is no error codes have come up. I took the car to another garage for an emissions test and they did confirm the lambda is too high to pass MOT.

My question is, is it possible for the NOX sensor to be causing the emissions test to fail when it is not showing up as an error on my diagnostic tool?

      Hi Derek Check history very carefully some of the earlier 2.0d suffered timing chain issues and I believe BMW recommended timing chain replacement but cant recall the mileage (old Blokes brain fade) but if it's 100k then it could be costly as I believe it's engine out. Google may help more The 5 series are great cars by the way Dave

      Tyres for front of my 240i

      So after my repair, I think it's time to replace my 30k 6 year old Michelin Pilot Sports on front. The modern equivalent seems to be 225/40 ZR18 92Y Michelin Pilot Sport 4 but presumably run flats? I've been struggling to find this tyre online just to get an idea of prices, anyone recommend a supplier or an equivalent make perhaps? Thanks Dave

      Just thought I'd jump on this thread and ask how you've found the car so far as I'm looking at a 520d m sport 2018 but has 95k mile on it so just fishing around see what folks reviews of theirs or thoughts on that is

      520d advice

      I'm currently in the market for a new car but I'm so undecided as to what i want , I'm currently in a 2018 bclass amg line that's fine but I've go that itch that won't go away, I've looked at a 520d sport 2018 but it's got 94k miles on it which doesn't really scare me but just wanting real world advice from anyone that's got one, all it's services are there last one done at 88k , my merc has 100k on now and still goes like a dream I've had a 1 series before so not my fist bmw , anyhow thanks in advance
