Hi! I have an F20 BMW 2012, I have only had the car around 3 weeks and have noticed that over around 25/30mph my steering becomes what I can only describe as ‘notchy’! When making slight turns it feels as if my steering wheel has cogs in it and it jumps between them. I can’t make a smooth turn. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the solution? Thank you!

Morning Abbie

Welcome to the Forum

It could be a steering joint or the electric steering rack it's self a good competent Mechanic should be able to diagnose the problem

A BMW Dealer will just change parts at your cost £££ my advice would be a good local garage to save your cash. There are several companies who refurbish/repair electric steering racks if it is that. that is the problem.

Good Luck

Dave
