Hi, my yellow engine man light is on. I know it's related to the EGR so it's not detrimental to the engine, but what causes it? It came on initially last year, so I had it cleared at my local garage, but it came on again a couple of miles after. Then it disappeared by itself last June but came on again today. Any help/advice gratefully received. Sorry, its a 2.0 diesel 175bhp, 2010 model in a 120d M-sport.

Morning John

Welcome to the Forum

What makes you so sure it is EGR related ?

If it is in fact EGR related the Complete EGR system needs cleaning and checking or replacing to ensure that it is working as it should. The DPF and its sensors also needs checking

If the Garage just diagnosed the fault and reset the code it hasn't fixed the issue
