I have just bought a 62 plate 116d with 99,000 miles on it. Previous owner forgot to mention it was previously in an accident.

After driving car for a day I've started noting after driving around for 10 minutes the car starts violently shaking while in idle, open the bonnet and can see the engine shaking around alot. Any idea on what this could be? I was thinking mis alignment after it being in an accident ...

Does it have a misfire? Does it sound like it’s stuttering?
that would be my first guess.

apart from idle, does it run smoothly?

Morning Liam

Welcome to the Forum

Not good any Idea how bad an accident ??

Worth checking the Engine mounts and the Transmission mount

Engine mounts have a vacuum attachment which can effect running and vibration
