Replacement Boot Lettering

Hi All, 

Long story short - managed to nearly pull off the 3 on the boot lettering (loose thread on cleaning cloth). 

Anyone no what the best tape to use to re-apply is.  The backing is black and a bit spongy.

Must be the season for it I did exactly the same thing pulled the X off my X5 boot 

I used a number plate mounting sticky pad that I had in the garage, cleaned the badge cleaned the boot then trimmed the sticky pad to fit

That was just over a month ago and 3 wash/polish sessions extra care now around the badges though

Ha, I found in the shed the tiniest last bit of 3M spongy double sided tape (no idea what i bought it for or indeed don't remember buying it), so currently doing exactly what you did.
